Air Crash, Media and Me

Waking up late in morning is the usual start of the day messing up with clothes and shoe and keeping eye on ticking wall clock and skipping TV channels. A shock of the day was waiting for me; plane crash at Margalla hills of the Airblue air bus on way from Karachi to Islamabad.

By the time I reached office my selfish esteem has taken out all the depression of that crashed and I was all in my work with my own thoughts. Until, some colleagues started discussing the crashed during the lunch time. I didn’t had much to say except “If not bomb blast there is plane crash for us”. I believe it’s the circumstances in the country and the de moralize nation’s attitude which I found in myself to be lost in own self miseries. However, after hearing colleagues discussion I opened some famous news URL’s and no wonder what I read and saw over their especially on Express Tribune.

The Tribune has published this conversation between Pilot and the control Tower,

Control tower’s first warning: You are getting away from the runway.
Pilot’s response: We can see the runway.
Control tower’s second warning: Turn to your left immediately, you are heading towards Margalla Hills.
Pilot’s response: We can see that.

And this is what they said CAA initial report is,

But, the pilot of the Airblue flight took a wrong turn and instead of going right, it moved towards the left side and ended up colliding with the Margalla Hills.

One can see clear that the report says that the pilot was asked to turn right… and he took left.. while the conversation between tower and pilot says another story

Our media, the media of Pakistan, which we see the only brink of hope in our country for this nation of Pakistan is no different from the other de moralizing factors for nation of Pakistan. All these news channels and e-news makers were busy in sensationalizing the issue. The news anchors and authors are being as critical as they have launched the MCCR (Micro Controller based Constant Current Regulator) by their hands and have installed Pappy lights on Runaway and hold the experience of making ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) policy.

One of the media anchor was asking the Management of Air Blue, “At what altitude airplane was flying ?” Was he in conversation with ATC? I meant for God sake instead of asking the rescue formations these guys are interested in getting investigative report that includes all the technical parameters.

Once, these media guys confirmed the number of passengers they had started a score card as Pakistan was playing against Australia and some runs are left to win.. One can say different number of death and injured numbers on each channel.

I do not know how to conclude this sensationalize attitude of media because I know tomorrow I will be discussing Pakistan versus England scorecard with my friends on various chat messengers and will show a min grief over this crash.

  1. "Airblue’s crash on July 28 was tragedy enough but the stream of unchecked information and unguarded comments over television channels made it worse, especially for the families of the 152 victims."

  3. Salllo.... How one can resolve the issue if the state is upto scoring points by prompting on media and no media is interested in providing equipment to do the rescuse services. Are we all left on our military ??

  4. Yesterday i was watching News on Samaa . . they were showing the flood in KP. They were showing too old, helpless men trying to get away to save their lives by going against the water flow. Dont you think that they should first save their lives instead of showing them in such condition on TV. I feel really shameful.
